Content of Course

2018 saw the ratification of the SRA's Reform Programme, which is likely to result in the largest change in the SRA's Accounts Rules for a generation. The existing detailed Rules will be replaced with a much briefer, principles based set  and are likely to take affect later in 2019. This, together with the changes made to the Reporting Accountant's role in 2015 (the impact of which many firms are still trying deal with effectively) means firms need to adapt to stay competitive in this sector.

This course is designed to provide more experienced member of the team with an understanding of:

  • The reason for, and impact of the forthcoming principles based revision of the SRA Accounts Rules, both on current and future assignments;
  • A revision of changes made to accountant’s reports and what a ‘material breach’ actually means;
  • A review of how firms have dealt with the last major set of changes to the Rules dating from 2015;
  • How to tailor work to ensure an efficient and effective approach; and
  • Common breaches and issues identified on file reviews.

This course focuses on the practical issues that firms face using our experience conducting cold file reviews and dealing with questions on the technical helpline.
