Content of Course
This course is aimed at delegates who have not previously been trained on Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules assignments and for staff who need a comprehensive refresher. The course will be based around the new SRA Accounts Rules and will specifically highlight areas of risk.
The content of the course includes:
- Overview of the legal sector
- Why solicitors hold client money
- The Solicitors Regulatory Authority
- The Role of the COFA
- How client money is regulated including a detailed review of the rules and guidelines
- Common breaches of the rules and guidelines
- Recent changes to the rules and current issues
- The work undertaken to support an Accountant's Report, including:-
- Planning
- Fieldwork, especially considering documentation of evidence and common problems
- Finalisation including reporting issues, and
- Practical problems and how to resolve them
