Simon Kettlewell BA FCA

Simon heads up our Technical function. He is responsible for writing HAT’s flagship Corporate Manuals as well as writing and presenting courses, conducting quality control file reviews and supporting firms with more complex technical matters. Simon joined the team in August 2013 having previously worked as an audit manager and then in the technical department of a top ten firm. Simon became a director of HAT in early 2018 and is a former board member of ICAEW’s Corporate Reporting Faculty.

Roles and Responsibilities

Simon’s major areas of responsibility are:

  • Writing and presenting our quarterly technical update meetings
  • Writing and presenting other courses covering audit and financial reporting
  • Carrying out quality control file reviews
  • Writing the Corporate manuals (Audit, Non-Audit, LLP’s and Groups)
  • Providing technical support to firms

Simon graduated from Durham University in 2003 with a degree in Economics with French. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with Garbutt & Elliott in York. Two years after qualifying, Simon joined RSM, progressing to Audit Manager in their Reading office and then becoming involved in the firm’s national Audit & Accounts Technical department.

Simon’s interests (when not occupied by his two daughters and/or cockapoo Obie) include supporting Arsenal, travelling, technology, movies and gaming.
