Managing Director

Andrew became Managing Director in May 2020. In addition to running the company, Andrew’s varied role includes responsibility for our paperless audit and non-audit Manuals in Caseware AuditAdvanced as well as leading much of our Career Development Course programme for trainees. Andrew also offers support to member firms through presenting technical updates and conducting quality control file reviews. Andrew is also responsible for many of our specialist Manuals, including pensions.

Roles and Responsibilities

Andrew’s major areas of responsibility are:

  • Writing and presenting the Career Development (A-G) Courses for trainees
  • Teaching and presenting CPD courses, including audit, financial reporting and pensions
  • Presenting our quarterly technical update meetings
  • Carrying out quality control file reviews
  • Conducting EQCRs for high risk / listed entities
  • Working on the technical helpline
  • Writing technical manuals including Anti-Money Laundering Procedures and Pensions

Andrew graduated from the University of Warwick in 2000 with a degree in Accounting and Finance. He trained with a HAT member firm, which by the time he qualified was part of a top-ten firm which is now RSM UK. As part of their London audit team, Andrew worked on a wide variety of clients including those in the construction and insurance sectors before taking responsibility for some of the firm’s software and related training. Andrew joined HAT in July 2005.

Andrew’s hobbies include spending time with his young family, DIY and visiting places of interest.
