Role and Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for delivering quarterly technical update meetings.
- Writing and presenting courses covering audit, charities, money‑laundering updates, and career development.
- Conducting quality control file reviews for member firms.
Liaqat brings more than 17 years of hands‑on compliance and technical experience, having supported small and medium‑sized practices across the UK. His approach blends technical rigour with pragmatism and scepticism, helping firms understand and apply regulatory requirements in a practical, realistic way. Liaqat’s training style is known for being engaging, clear, and balanced with a touch of humour.
Liaqat began his career in a small two‑partner audit firm in Central London, gaining valuable practical grounding. He then spent 16 years in the compliance industry as a Technical Consultant, collaborating closely with firms similar in size to many HAT Group members. Liaqat then joined HAT Group in March 2024, bringing deep technical knowledge and practical insight to the team.
Outside of work, Liaqat is a ECB Level 3 Qualified Cricket Umpire, spending much of his time driving his two sons to cricket grounds across Essex and supporting their passion for the game.
