ISQM (UK) 1 represented a major shift in the audit landscape. Introduced in December 2022, it replaced ISQC (UK) 1 and adopted a move towards a more proactive and risk-focused approach to quality management.

Under ISQM (UK) 1, firms are required to identify and address ‘quality risks’ that could lead to the issuance of an inappropriate audit opinion. To support this, firms must design, implement, and maintain a robust System of Quality Management (SOQM), which needs to be comprehensive and dynamic.
