AIM

2013 eventually saw the requirement for law firms to appoint a COFA (Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration) become effective. This resulted in reporting accountants having to modify their approach and assess how effective the COFA was. This update course will examine the impact of this in the first year of implementation as well as deal with other current issues and developments. A more detailed synopsis will be available nearer the course date.

Course Content

  • The impact of CIOs (Charitable Incorporated Organisations) - how do they differ from other charities?
  • Recent developments in guidance from the Charity Commission and general developments in the sector;
  • Common problems identified on charity audit and independent examination assignments;
  • Revision of the basics - areas which often cause problems in charity financial reporting, including fund accounting;
  • The future - including preparing for the new Charities SORP and how this may impact clients
